Sunshine Blogger Award

Sunshine-blogger-award

Hello everyone!  😊

I’ve finally gotten around to posting my response for the Sunshine Blogger Award. I was nominated back in December 2018. I am genuinely pleased that someone took the time to recognize my little writing blog in this big melting pot blog community.

Let’s start off by giving thanks to Laurelwolfelives  tagging me for the award. As a writer, I was fascinated by the variety of stories on one blog. Short fiction, murder mysteries, revenge stories, and days that have gone by. Please stop by and be entertained by so many original works. (I did and loved it!)

Next, I’m going to make some changes to this award and any future awards. While I love the tags, many do not for a list of reasons. So I’m going to answer the award questions, then give a shout out to one of the blogs that I enjoy. That’s it…no tagging, just recognition for having an active blog that displays the passion that was put into it.  Easy Pezy Baby!!!

Here Are Laurelwolfelives Questions:

What is your favorite holiday and why? I would say its Veterans Day. Civilians can never repay the sacrifice military men and women make to protect the US and other countries. Hats off to them.

If you could relive one moment in your life, what would it be and why? Id go back and sign up for college courses on writing. I didn’t have the passion for writing early in life or the guidance to get a degree. Its never too late, but it would have been easier for me back then to work two jobs for an MFA rather than working two jobs now just to stay afloat in our economy.

What is your belief, evolution or divine creation? Ahh, what came first, the chicken or the egg? 😇  I say humans are very complex beings. I don’t think we arrived here by chance.

If you could suddenly have any talent, what would it be and why? The ability to play various instruments. I have a passion for writing fiction but I also have a passion for music. To be able to play rock, hip-hop, jazz, folk, and the blues would be a blast!

If a homeless person asked you for money, would you give it to them? There’s that chicken or egg thing again…I gave a dollar to a homeless guy on the train during my commute from NYC. Come to find out he was on the same train every day, at the same time begging for a handout. I stopped giving him money at that point when I saw him. Another time I saw a young couple on the streets of New York living in a cardboard box just chatting with each other. I gave them each a 20 dollar bill. Who really was in need? It’s a crapshoot when you give money to the homeless. Some need it, others take advantage of kindness.

When was the last time you cursed and why? That would have been when a car cut me off the road last week. No one heard it, but I felt better.

If you were exiled to a deserted island and could only take one thing, what would it be? I would bring a survival manual. The Lost Ways by Claude Davis comes to mind. I purchased it for research about a post-apocalyptic story but it would come in handy for this situation.

What is the one thing that makes you so mad, you could spit? I’m experiencing minor health issues that may develop into something far worse. These things happen to a lot to people like me thinking about retiring. I’m like… why now?

What is your favorite sound? I like the sound my phone makes when somebody gives me a like on a blog post. 🙂

Do you dream in color? I’m not sure. I don’t remember B&W or Color in my dreams.

If you come to a fork in the road, do you go right or left? The chicken and egg are back again! If both roads look the same, I say its a matter of personal choice. Id pick right since I’m right-handed.

So there you have it. More questions that let you the reader know more about me.

Check out my other award postings if you want to know more about Darnell. This is the best way for me as an introvert to reveal things about myself I might not in conversation:

Now Id like to give a Shout Out to Patrick and Paladin for the blog The Inner Circle. Patrick and the cheetah have been very busy lately interviewing people in their Facebook Group.

Several fantastic interviews (and more to come) called 8 Questions with… showcases the careers of people on the rise such as actor Tai Brown, Steve Rimpici, Ieve Lykos, Paula Edda Klein and comedian/writer Eric Toms for starters. There are many more!

Also posted is his volunteer work during the holidays, a time when many are depressed. Patrick organized a warm Sock Drive for the homeless, a Giving Tree for families unable to buy presents and organized the collection of hand towels for the Huron Valley Animal Shelter. You may read about his humanitarian efforts here. It will bring joy to your soul.

Let’s not forget Patrick and Paladins film reviews. Some are new but others (my favorites) highlight archived vintage action films like “Dark Of The Sun” (1968) starring Rod Taylor and Jim Brown.

There is much more to this engaging blog, but I can’t list everything so I suggest you take a look and give a follow if you like what you see.

That’s all I have for now. Everyone have a great weekend!

This just came in from WordPress: Much appreciated!!!

Congrats on the WP likes & the award! I loved reading your answers, and sadly have to agree with the whole giving money to the homeless thing. It’s awful because those who don’t really need it (we have beggars in the UK who already have a council property and benefits and pretend to be homeless and earn more on the streets than I ever have in a job) take away from those who do, and people logically become sceptical, which is awful. I’m sorry about the ‘minor’ health niggles; I’m not sure what’s going on, but I really do hope you’re okay.. Have you have whatever’s wrong checked out? Make sure you de-stress and get some rest over the weekend, Darnell 🙂

Thanks Caz. I have time off from work April 1st to destress. I plan on seeing a doctor while I’m out. I’ll seek out your opinion if I don’t like what I hear.😣

The time-out for recuperating and de-stressing sounds like a very good idea. My fingers are crossed for you seeing a doctor xx
