Feedback on my writing is positive. So are the comments. But what if they were not? I’ve learned that I can’t please everyone, (see week 36) so its best to write what pleases you.

What I’m writing now is not pleasing to me. I’m taking a blog break for while. See post tomorrow.

So true. And unless I’m writing about what I love, I can’t write well anyway.

I think writing should be a fun experience. It won’t be fun if you write just for likes. It will become a job. 😱

slightly off topic…….how do you handle writer’s block?

I put down that story and work on something fresh. Sometimes changing to a new story brings ideas to old ones.

Writing needs to me more about how we feel than how popular we are received; otherwise we may lose our voice.

I remember an old Aesop fable about a man going down the road. The details are vague, but what I remember is every time someone saw him, they would criticize how he was packed. And he would rearrange to put …like his wife on the mule and the bags somewhere else., etc. At the end because of all of that rearranging he ended up losing everything.
What a long way to say… Stay true to you. 🙂

There are people who write for others. It reminds me of blogging niches. Some people chose those which have the biggest following and THEN start writing. Others (like me), chose what they want to write about and then look for those who will read. Who’s the winner? Depending how you look at it. I think I would be more popular (and therefore, maybe be earning money), but I’m glad to be where I am because I am true to myself.

Yes. Those bad reviews sting, but it’s the nature of the beast in entertainment.

Totally agree! If you’re not engaged by your work, will anyone else be? Although of course you can’t please all the people all the time…etc. 🙂

Writing is like my soup theory. Some want salt, others don’t. Season (and write) the way you think it should be.
Thanks for the comment Chris 🙂

That quote fits this post to a T! You’re absolutely right, not every writer is for every reader, and vice versa. That’s OK:) No hard feelings!
