October 6th, 3:30pm – I’m getting more views so I’m thinking about adding a content advisory to my fiction. Most of my work is somewhat tame but I jump from one extreme to another. A one or two-line description of the content at the beginning would do. Is this a new trend?

Someone complained about the adult content of some of my writings, so I put up a warning. As far as “triggers” I tend to avoid. I want my readers to experience what I am writing, but I understand why some do put up an advisory

What made you consider this? Did someone complain?
Personally, I am against warnings. Words cannot hurt me. I choose when to stop reading. I do realize that I might be in the minority on this one, though.
What will your warning include? Language? Gore? Nudity? Mental health? Sexual abuse? I feel like there will always be someone who has to be warned about… something.

No one complained however I have seen this on blogs lately that I read. I think I’ll play it by ear and make it content information, instead of warning. I liked Caz Invisibly Me’s comment. Something light hearted.

Maybe if something is very graphic… I put a warning about one of my books advising it contained ‘scenes of an adult nature’ – hoping to encourage more sales 😉

I bet it worked. One story I posted with something like that had few likes but is still my highest viewed work. 😏

I pinned post advisory would do. As a published writer, you surely have written all kinds. I would think readers would come already aware. 🤷🏻♀️ That’s just my thoughts.

Sounds like a good idea. Maybe it could be like a warning.
Warning : Contains writing that’ll blow your mind, it could get messy.
Warning : Contains humour content, not advised for those with weak bladders.
etc etc 😉

Might not be a bad idea,I make sure to include ratings on everything I review even if its unrated or made for TV. I don’t want any youngsters or their parents being unpleasantly surprised

I have people following that have interest in some of the genre I write but not all. I figured a content warning would give sensitive followers a heads up.
