Wednesday, January 15th – I received the last security update for my Windows 7 Laptop. I can still use it, but it’s best I upgrade to a Windows 10, since I use a company’s network during the day.ย In the meantime, I can write offline at work during lunch while I wait for Amazon to save the day.
This is a problem I CAN write through. You can too. No matter what…write.
I have a love-hate relationship with all Windows versions. None of them are perfect, but I still don’t really want to invest the time to switching to apple.

Windows 10 really isn’t too bad once you forgot everything you think about where things are on windows 7

I upgraded my folks’ PC to a Windows 10 and my dad went ‘what the hell is this?!’ when seeing all the tiles. Needless to say, he uses the main screen and Chrome, and nothing else. If he deviates slightly he panics ๐ I think Microsoft are axing support for Win7 now, too…
How’s the writing going? I hope you’re enjoying making some wonderful creations, Darnell! xx

Microsoft thought everyone would love the tiles. They don’t.๐ Writing is going well. I have a story to post soon, and working on another. Have a wonderful weekend Caz!

I’m still on Windows 7 and probably will be until I need a new computer. I have mixed feelings about that time. New computers are exciting but Windows 10 is not!

Keep it healthy by deleting old files and removing unused programs because Microsoft won’t support problems anymore. They want us on Win 10.โน๏ธ

I’m not worried since I’m pretty computer savvy. I haven’t even updated in a while because one of their updates broke my USB functionality. I’m just careful.

Great! There won’t be any more security updates after this month. Be sure to get the last one. If it breaks something, roll it back to previous state.๐

Going from Windows 7 to 10 drove me mad – it took ages to get used to it. I admire your mantra of writing through every problem… I need some of that determination today!

I use a Compaq desktop that has Win8, and a purple HP laptop (or maybe it’s a notebook?), which I received as a gift from a well-meaning relative, that has Win10. Win8 has its warts, but Win10 is even worse. One lousy thing about it is that there isn’t enough room on the portable to install the Win10 “final update” (which came out a couple of years ago), even though I removed everything that was removable from the machine, so Win10 keeps nagging me that “we can’t install updates.” Why HP didn’t foresee this memory capacity problem is a mystery. I’ve tried to disable the auto-update function, but no go – it keeps coming back. I’m going to have to take the blasted machine to some geek and fork over a fee I can’t afford, to get Windows out of my face and enjoy my portable purple computer in peace.

This is the reason I’m not installing Win 10 over Win 7. I have the space but the hardware is outdated. It would run slow as molasses. Gonna keep my Win 7 offline and use that way. I have an old PC with Vista on it. I was thinking about putting Linux on it at no cost.

Most definitely!
I write during my work break with the use of pen and paper. I get to spend some time outside and away from my desk and computer. Wins all around.
Way to make the best of your situation.

I forgot I needed the company Wi-Fi during the day, but I can still make use offline until I get a new one.
Thanks for responding S.G.K.
