Diary of a bad writer – Week 78

Diary of a bad writer banner

May 20th, today – As I was trying to figure out the muse of a character in a short piece, another author’s post reminded me we can sharpen our craft by investing in our own way of writing. Twist an old cliche… into something new. Make it your own.

5-1

“Your writing is unique. No one will know until you put it on paper”

Yes, writers can write about the same thing “Uniquely” if we allow our personal voice to shine through!

This is useful! It can be tough sometimes and we put ourselves under so much pressure to produce.

Love this. They say that things these days have already been done before, that no idea is truly new. If that’s the case, then we use pre-existing ideas and notions and blend them, sculpt them, give them a twist that only we can unique give them.
I hope you’re keeping as safe and as well as possible, my friend. Happy writing, Darnell!

    So true!
I don’t believe in many (any?) rules when it comes to writing.

Reading widely is so valuable and we have so many resources out there. Sometimes, I find, it’s just a matter of deciding which to grab onto.
Keep reading, keep writing, Darnell 🙂

During this time, we need inspiration more than ever. You provide that with strength for mental health issues and getting through the daily grind. Another author helped me to see putting a fresh spin on something old…makes it new. I realized that by reading other people’s work, and commenting. Thank you for your support.🤗
