Diary of a bad writer – Week 18

Diary of a bad writer banner

January 27th, 10pm – I scheduled my latest short story to post in 2 hours. I feel good about it. Problem is I don’t feel good about most of my work. Still trying to figure out why I have armor and nerves of steel on some work in progress and insecurities on others.

Best I can do is try to keep my armor on and publish NFS – No Fear Stories.

Are the things you’re more nervous about the works you’ve invested more time and emotion in? Sometimes I find I care more and get ‘perfectionist tendencies’ heightened when it’s something I’m more concerned about being as good as it can be. Just a thought. Feel the fear and do it anyway, as they say! 😉

The short answer is yes, the more invested, the harder to share. As I learn my craft, I’ll be able to forgive plot, dialog, and character imperfections. I know it takes time. My writing today is better than 6 months ago. I have to let the armor get stronger for vested work. Great question Caz.
      Thank you.

I’m working on my debut poetry book.

I am preparing a mailing list. Would you like me to add your e-mail address please?

If so, can you share it with me?

I don’t plan to do it like hard core promotion.

I will just inform you when it’s available and when there is some huge fluctuation in price (sale etc.), as on WordPress reader, posts get lost in stampede.

I won’t be mailing you more than 5 to 6 times a year, max.

Won’t bother you with unnecessary e-mails, promise!

    Thank you 🙂

Consider it this way. Everything is temporary. One day you will be over it. Better sooner than later😊

I think a lot of writers feel that way at least some of the time, your writing is good, keep going!

Thank you Steve. My diary is supposed to bring encouragement to other writers. You and everyone commenting has given encouragement to ME. I appreciate it very much.

Your welcome Darnell! Now if only I could write!

Perhaps because of what in mindfulness is called your “inner critic.” I think all writers have fierce ones—we just have to accept them, say “Oh, It’s you again,” and keep writing.

    You’re doing great!

I think we all feel that way… why certain stories give us the shakes is a puzzle. Your work is excellent, Darnell. You should be fearless! Keep them coming! 👍😃
