Diary of a bad writer – Week 36

Diary of a bad writer banner

June 11th, 10:00am – A fellow blogger/writer/author mentioned that a reader said her characters were flawed. I say use anything positive from complainers and trolls and throw the rest away.  Continue to cook your fiction the way it tastes good to you.

I really loved that little analogy about cooking your fiction so it tastes good to you! I think authors need to continue to write what feels right to THEM… no book will go loved by every single reader, but many will love your voice and words. Don’t change what feels right to you to appease others!

Thanks Brittany. I have to agree. It’s tough trying to please everyone. Best start with yourself ❤️

Who among us are not flawed, whether in script or reality? How boring to only read or write about perfection.

We can be as flawed as our characters. Our writing would be all the more interesting then. Thanks for the comment. 🤗

Seems to me if someone says characters are flawed but offers nothing constructive, that person is more interested in being critical than helpful.

Critique should encourage, not discourage. Thank you for the comment Annie.
