Absolutely, and I think Dr Seuss said it well : “Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.” 😉

I only found success when I started to “write what I know” and be myself.
It’s so true! I guess people can tell when something’s carefully crafted and maybe comes out wooden and forced compared to a naturalness flowing from real experience……

A writer once described a motorcycle accident. I have experience riding so I knew the author didn’t do much research. Write what you know really comes into play here. Thanks for the comment 😊

Perhaps this is too mystical, but I think the key is to absorb good writing unconsciously by reading things you know are well written—while being true to yourself and writing what feels genuine to you—not deliberately trying to adapt to others’ techniques or styles.

Staying true to your own writing style is so important and really shines through in your stories. Of course, taking influence from other writers is encouraged, but also stick to what feels right to you!! Your stories have never disappointed me, so I’d say your style is perfect for you!

Yes. Writing is like fashion: develop your own style.

I don’t think its a bad idea to pick up story structure pointers,if you feel it helps improve your writing, then go for it.
Every writer is influenced by other writers….

Yes, if I like an author, I will be influenced by their style, but I hope to always keep mine 😉
