How To Encourage A Writer To Write

Here are some things you can say to encourage a writer to write:

  • “I love your writing! It’s creative and engaging.”
  • “I’m so impressed by your work ethic. You’re always so dedicated to your writing.”
  • “I know you’re facing some challenges right now, but I believe in you. Keep writing!”
  • “I’m always here to support you in your writing journey. Let me know if you need anything.”
  • “I’m excited to see what you’ll create next.”
  • “Your writing is a gift. Please don’t give up on it.”

You can also encourage a writer by:

  • Reading their work and giving them feedback.
  • Helping them find writing resources and opportunities

It’s also encouraging to associate with other writers. I joined a virtual group on Meet Up called “Dump Writing Group.” We spend one hour a week writing whatever is on our minds. The group uses a writing prompt from the host Caroline. You can edit your work in progress, or brainstorm a new story idea. Those who want can share their work if time permits.

If you love to write, how do you keep yourself focused on writing? How do you encourage other writers to write? I’d love to know.

I feel like part of the reason I haven’t been writing lately is because no one is encouraging me…

Our writing is like a pleasant smile. It can brighten someone’s day. Not everyone can do that…but you can. This is another reason to share our abilities with the writing community. Smile, and continue sharing your writing gift.

This one is top tier encouragement: “I know you’re facing some challenges right now, but I believe in you. Keep writing!”

Because many a times you will ask yourself why bother, when things are challenging

This is why I joined the writing group. They offer support and encouragement. We share our writing at all levels and provide feedback. Its only one hour per week so I have no excuse not to attend virtually in the comfort of my home.
