The sky turned dark as the heavens unloaded a heavy burden.
Rain lashed through the open window, its water rising fast.
Huyanna, whose name means “falling rain,” closed the window.
She looked at the saturated floor to see if the water rose above the a/c outlet.
A sudden boom and the flash of lightning scared her to the core.
Her rubber boots brought relief as she reached for the light switch.
