Winters Way

My writing group is getting together tonight to recite personal poems with a winter theme. I decided my poem would be about the peace I experience in front of my nice-looking…but fake fireplace. R.I.P, mom and dad. Love you both.

The sky turns a dark shade of gray as the sun’s golden light fades away. The snowflakes arrive with a victory dance, before the North wind wakes from a trance.

Then comes the wind, like a sharp biting ghost, claiming the streets, the highways, along the East Coast. Snow swirls into curtains of blinding, thick white, coating the community in the darkness of night.

The trees bow low under crystal and weight, locked in silence until branches break. But inside my warm home, where the fireplace glows, the world is at peace while the bitter wind blows.

Happy Upcoming New Year To All
