Diary of a bad writer – Week 14

Diary of a bad writer banner

January 2nd – First day back at work after the holiday break.

Lunchtime – Just realized that I get more things done at work than sitting around the house. Glad to be back at work. Not for the work, but for the structure of getting things done. For the rest of the year, if I lack motivation or get stressed, I’ll look at my own written words:       GetItDone

I had to take a very early retirement due to serious health problems and I found structure in life is very important or time is wasted and you go crazy! Plan ahead is always smart. Keep up the good writer Darnell!

Thank you Steve. Sorry about the health issues but I see passion in your photos. That’s something I need to learn. Will observe your blog for my photo learning experience.

Balance is always important. I see people complaining about work, but when retired long for those days.

Structure, when my body agrees to co-operate(!), helps me stay on track, motivated and productive too. I hope you have a good end to your week 🙂

My daughter recently turned me on to the psychology of “flow.” It seems especially relevant for creatives, as it applies to accomplishing tangible goals. My last post is an overview. Give it a look when you have a chance. I took a medical retirement a few years ago and was terrified to face everyday without structure. But a little reflection, planning and socializing go a long way to finding purpose. As does writing!

I know the feeling… too much idle time and I waste it!

I understand why some retired people seem lost. They don’t plan the rest of life. Just stay idle. I plan to keep busy writing as a start. Got a taste of idle. I didn’t like the flavor.

I’m the same way, I’ll always have something to keep me busy!
