Sometimes when my creative mind stalls, it may be I’m out of writing fuel. To fill up again, I take the time to read. Reading the work of others not only refreshes your mind, but it provides writing ideas of your own.
“If You Don’t Have Time To Read, You Don’t Have The Time (Or The Tools) To Write” – Stephen King
This week I’m reading “The Violence” by Delilah S. Dawson. This story is set in the current day, and the world is dealing with the next pandemic after Covid-19, simply called The Violence. The main story and the sub-plot dovetail into a tale that brings to light abuse in different forms – and how it’s dealt with.
I plan to talk about what I like and can use from this book (for my own creativity) on Amazon Amp, a new social media thing built around the theme of broadcast radio. Those on Apple IOS devices can create a user name, (access code TWITTER) and listen in. (Android users soon) The show starts at 11:00 am EST on Sunday mornings, my user name is niteriter365. I’m still working on a format, but so far it’s music, writing encouragement, and book discussion. There is a call-in feature (people listening can join in) I will use once I learn to navigate the Amp software a little better.
The key today is COMMITMENT. Commit to reading other work, and commit to writing your own.
Absolutely – reading is VERY important for writers.

I totally agree about reading, Darnell. Reading good writing especially.
‘The Violence’ sounds interesting. I’ll have to wait for the Android technology to catch up to hear your thoughts.

Thank Chris. I’ll do a book review on good reads in a couple of days.
